When I was in preschool, my favorite time of day was when I was allowed to draw. Later in my high school years my Dad asked me what I wanted to do for a living. I told him I wanted to be a cartoonist. He said, son, you can not make a living doing artwork. Get a regular job and earn a decent living. Maybe one day settle down and start a family. So I did. Fast forward about 35 years later and I am actively pursuing a career as an Author/Illustrator of children's books.
I have tried many different types of mediums over the past few years thru some classes at The Art Institute of Houston. In the end it seems I have settled on using digital software programs for creating my artwork. I still like using the old pencil and paper but I have found digital to be much more productive. Most of the pics that you see on my web site so far are scans of my original hand drawn school work.
My inspiration comes from my family, my children and grandchildren, all of whom I love dearly. I am grateful for my loving family and that my Dad suggested I start one. Recently I have discovered that I can write about and illustrate the memories that I cherish. I am looking forward to this new chapter in my life. Do what you love and love what you do. So please, check back from time to time and you will be able to see and enjoy my newly published work.
